ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca’s Washington Park was nearly filled to capacity Saturday, as residents showed up en masse to protest a wide array of the Trump administration’s policies and conduct during the first six months of his second term. The protest was Ithaca’s local iteration of nationwide “No Kings” rallies, which also took place in hundreds of other communities across the country Saturday.

ITHACA, N.Y. — Early voting has begun in New York State, as voters can use the next week-plus to head to the polls and support their chosen candidates. There is only one location for early voting this year: Ithaca Town Hall, located at 215 N. Tioga St. in downtown Ithaca. Town Hall will be open every day for early voting between Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 22.

ITHACA, N.Y. — A stabbing on West Green Street left one person injured on Thursday night, with police still searching for a suspect. Ithaca Police Department Lt. Mary Orsaio said in a press release that police responded around 9:45 p.m. to a dispute on the 300 block of West Green Street that resulted in a stabbing. Orsaio did not provide details of the dispute or the parties involved. Officers arrived on the scene to find the victim suffering from stab wounds.

ITHACA, N.Y. — Tragedy was avoided Wednesday evening when a commercial truck ran off the roadway in downtown Ithaca. No injuries were reported and there was no apparent property damage, according to the Ithaca Police Department.

ITHACA, N.Y. — The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has scrubbed a list of sanctuary jurisdictions — which included the City of Ithaca, Tompkins County and New York State — from its website. The sudden change introduced a new round of confusion over the potential legal ramifications that could be levied against jurisdictions with sanctuary laws in place regarding immigration enforcement.
