ITHACA, N.Y. — Hundreds of marchers proceeded down Cayuga Street Thursday evening, surrounded by even more spectators, to mark the start of Ithaca Festival with the annual parade. The parade featured plenty of costumes, dozens of floats and even a few dancing Volvos. For at least the third consecutive year, the parade was not marred by a torrential downpour, as has occasionally happened in the past. All pictures taken by Casey Martin for The Ithaca Voice.

ITHACA, N.Y. — For the first time in nearly half a century, Cornell University is an NCAA champion. Cornell’s men’s lacrosse team won its first NCAA championship in 48 years on Monday afternoon, defeating Maryland 13-10 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. Cornell finished the season at 18-1, exacting some revenge on a Maryland team that had beaten the Big Red men’s team in the 2022 NCAA championship game.
