After that series, it would be understandable for Mariners fans to think to themselves, “Oh, them again.” After dropping three of four to the Astros — who, barring the Covid year, have won every American League West title since 2017 — it’s fair to think another Houston conquest is coming. Maybe that will be the case. Perhaps that blistering start the Mariners (29-23) put together through their first 48 games was a mirage. But something about this season feels different.
