    QUINCY — The Adams County Board on Tuesday approved an ordinance allowing it to sell $9 million in bonds to fund the courthouse heating and air conditioning and roof replacement. Finance Committee Chairman Travis Cooley, R-4, said the county selected Kings Financial Consulting of Monticello as the fiduciary handling the bond sale. The county will be able to sell the bonds in 60 days. "First, we're going to go to local banks," Cooley said.

    QUINCY — Voters will decide on Tuesday whether they want the city of Quincy to continue in the same direction for the next four years or chart a new path. Republican Mayor Mike Troup faces off against former city treasurer and independent candidate Linda Moore in the consolidated election. Troup, 67, who is finishing his first term, believes the city has undergone tremendous business growth during his time as mayor and wants to see that continue.

    QUINCY — Quincy University students were distributing campaign flyers for a Quincy mayoral candidate. In a statement Tuesday, QU President Brian McGee said the university learned one of its employees "wrongly agreed" to ask students of a team to distribute the flyers for independent candidate Linda Moore. "Further, the employee involved four other employees in this effort," McGee said.

    QUINCY — Lower Quincy Bay will see dredging this spring as part of a federal program. The Quincy Park Board learned Wednesday that dredging of the lower bay is set to start May 1 as part of the $3.5 million in funding from the Small Boats Harbors Program through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Park District Executive Director Rome Frericks said the grant will allow for 35,000-cubic-feet of dredging from the tip of Quinsippi Island to the double ramps in the lower bay.

    QUINCY — Adams County is moving forward with a more than $9.5 million heat and air conditioning and roof replacement project at the county courthouse. The Adams County Board on Tuesday approved the $8.9 million bid from Peters Heating and Air Conditioning for the HVAC work and $688,880 bid from Full Service Roofing to replace the roof. The county requested proposals for both projects, and though neither were the lowest submitted bids, County Board members were unanimous with their decision.
