FAYETTEVILLE — Texas A&M left-hander Ryan Prager went toe-to-toe last season with Arkansas’ Hagen Smith, the national pitcher of the year. When the Razorbacks opened their series at Blue Bell Park last May, Smith struck out 14 in 6 scoreless innings and Prager struck out 9 in 7 scoreless in arguably the best duel of 2024. The Aggies won a 1-0 thriller in 11 innings.

FAYETTEVILLE — The second-ranked Arkansas baseball team is making its first adjustment to the weekend rotation since February for this week’s SEC series against Texas A&M. Left-hander Zach Root will start Game 1 on Thursday at 7 p.m. and Landon Beidelschies will start Saturday’s scheduled Game 3, but Gabe Gaeckle will be moved to the bullpen after a series of short starts. He will be replaced in the rotation by junior right-hander Gage Wood in Game 2.

PregameArkansas and UAPB are scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. on a pleasant night at Baum-Walker Stadium. Temperatures are in the mid-60s pregame and will likely be in the 50s throughout most of the game. The No. 2 Razorbacks are looking to bounce back from a couple of 1-run losses at Georgia over the weekend. UAPB is on a 3-game win streak, but only 8-26 overall. Statistically this game is a mismatch — Arkansas is superior across the board — but you never know what will happen on a Tuesday.
