The Grayson County School Board, during its regular meeting last Thursday, received an update on the progress of the Grayson County Technology Center addition/renovation project. Grayson County Schools Superintendent Doug Robinson provided an update on the tech center project and said work had begun to demolish the majority of the existing building. "Everything's going well, but it's early," he said, adding that there were no significant weather delays following recent heavy rains and flooding.

The Grayson County Fiscal Court, during its regular meeting held last Thursday, April 17, honored Grayson County E-911 and proclaimed National Day of Prayer locally. The fiscal court approved a resolution recognizing National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week (April 13-19), and the resolution was signed and read by Grayson County Judge Executive Kevin Henderson.

The Leitchfield City Council on Monday approved a one-time payment of $50,000 to Grayson County E-911 to assist the agency through a budget shortfall. According to Leitchfield Mayor Harold Miller, Grayson County government and E-911 had requested that Leitchfield provide the $50,000 payment because the dispatch service has experienced a shortfall due to so many people no longer having landline phones. The city currently contributes $80,000 annually ($20,000 per quarter) to E-911.

The Caneyvillle City Commission is looking to expand the city's fire station, officials said Monday. City Commissioner Mike Geary and Caneyville Fire Chief Brian Pharris reported during Monday's regular commission meeting that they are gathering quotes to determine the cost constructing a 30' x 50' addition on to the back of the fire department. According to City Clerk Connie Gootee, Geary and Pharris hope to have quotes ready to present by the next city commission meeting.
