Former Lansing Police Department Lieutenant Ryan Wilcox was sentenced to 10 months probation and ordered to pay $18,500 in restitution for embezzlement. Wilcox, who retired in March, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge and will still receive his full pension. An internal investigation into Wilcox's actions and how they went unreported is ongoing.

The City of Lansing paid former Lansing Police Department Lt. Ryan Wilcox more than $15,000 while he mowed lawns or worked for a private company. An LPD captain said for more than a decade there had been jokes and rumors in the department about Wilcox mowing lawns while on the clock for the police department. For several months in 2022, Wilcox kept his lawn mowing equipment at the police department's shooting range, records show.
