Michigan's agricultural exports reached a new high of $2.97 billion in 2024. Canada, Mexico, South Korea, Japan and China have been the five largest international markets for Michigan each of the past three years. LANSING — Last year, Michigan exported nearly $3 billion in agricultural products including cereal, meat, processed foods and animal feed. And in each of the past three years, Canada has been by far the biggest purchaser, buying more than $1.2 billion from the state.

The CDC reported nationwide decreases in drug deaths from 2023 to 2024, including a 34.8% decrease in Michigan. UM-Health Sparrow, the medical examiner for seven counties that include Lansing's tri-county area, said its coverage area saw lowest number of deaths since it began reporting the data in 2016.
