AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Tomorrow (Sunday June 8th, 2025) will be a WEATHER ALERT DAY across the region. A slight risk covers the further west and north in the region. An enhanced risk covers the majority of the Texas panhandle and then a moderate risk from Shamrock down through Childress and near Paducah. All hazards will be possible but destructive hail and strong winds will likely be the main threats. There is a chance for tornadic activity but the chance remains low for now.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Sever weather still at the forefront of our minds. Today will be a WEATHER ALERT DAY across the region. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 9 PM CDT for Ochiltree, Lipscomb, Roberts, Hemphill, Wheeler, and Collingsworth counties in the Texas Panhandle. Also, A Tornado Watch into effect until 10 pm CDT for Parmer, Castro, Swisher, Briscoe, Hall, Childress, and Cottle. It is in effect for Curry and Roosevelt counties in Eastern New Mexico until 9 PM MDT.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Our next weather maker will move through late tonight and throughout Saturday. Rain will transition to snow through the overnight hours and remain snow for Saturday!The southeast Texas panhandle will likely remain as rain for the majority of this system. But its possible there will be a little rain/snow mix depending on how cold it gets. Temperatures are a big factor in how much snowfall we will see stick. Temperatures are expecting hover around freezing.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — Today is a weather alert day across the area due to warm, dry, and windy conditions. Fire danger is elevated to the East and critical to very critical to the West/Southwest. Temperatures this afternoon will be getting into the 70s with humidity's down into the teens. Winds will be blowing out of the South/Southwest sustained 25-35 mph and gusting up to 55 mph or even a bit stronger at times is possible.

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — The Arctic Blast has made it into the panhandles and Eastern New Mexico. Temperatures will likely fall as we go throughout today. An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for the entirety of the panhandles until noon CST Wednesday. Wind Chills can get as low as 30 below zero. This could result in hypothermia and frostbite in as little as 30 minutes. Try not to spend too much time outdoors and don't have any exposed skin.
