    A hard deadline for getting a REAL ID has arrived after years of delays. Starting next month, people without a REAL ID-compliant form of identification will not be allowed on domestic flights. REAL ID includes a series of verification requirements laid out in a federal law passed after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The deadline for requiring a REAL ID to fly has been pushed back multiple times over several years. And in Missouri, drivers are not required to have a driver's license that complies.

    The Missouri State Highway Patrol is one of two agencies that have signed agreements with ICE to expand the local agency's immigration enforcement power with federal oversight. MSHP and the Christian County Sheriff's Office signed agreements with ICE under an executive order that expanded federal cooperation in immigration law enforcement with local police. Missouri is one of 38 states that have a law enforcement agency signed up for the program.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)A former Jefferson City private school volunteer was sentenced to probation Monday. Judge Daniel Green sentenced Jennifer Cecil to five years of probation on a felony count of first-degree sexual abuse. If Cecil violates her probation, she could be sentenced to 10 years in prison. She was charged in July 2023 after the victim told law enforcement about their relationship and the victim's parents confronted Cecil, according to court documents.

    COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)A Columbia stabbing victim told police that he interrupted his assailant trying to steal from him before the attack, according to court documents. Arthur W. Hooks, 70, was arrested Monday after police responded to a stabbing in the 2900 block of Leeway Drive in north Columbia. Prosecutors charged Hooks with first-degree assault, armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon. Hooks was jailed without bond and an initial court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.
