More than 23,000 people across New York are still without power following Sunday's deadly storms. Three people died in Clark Mills on Sunday, including twin 6-year-old girls. The National Weather Service confirmed a tornado touched down, with wind speeds of 105 mph. The severe weather and subsequent loss of power came at a dangerous time. Extreme heat is heading to the Mohawk Valley, which will drive temperatures into the mid to high 90s.

Tens of thousands of people are still without power after severe storms toppled trees and downed power lines across the Mohawk Valley. Among the hardest hit areas were Clark Mills, Clinton, Kirkland, Taberg, and Westmoreland. Megan Stone/WIBX/TSMIt is currently unknown when power will be fully restored. National Grid is currently assessing the damage and will put any updates on its Outage Map. National Grid says it has restored power to roughly 43,500 of the 90,000 customers who lost power.

Say goodbye to Omicron and hello to Nimbus, which appears to be the new COVID-19 variant in town. Over 1 in 3 new coronavirus cases involve the NB.1.8.1 strain, which has been nicknamed Nimbus. In the two week period ending June 7, the CDC said about 37% of all cases were those infected by this highly contagious new strain. This now makes it the 2nd-most common variant in the country.
