Powerful storms left a trail of destruction across many states Wednesday into Thursday, including in Greater Cincinnati. Powerful winds and tornado-warned storms uprooted trees, causing several to topple onto homes, some even splitting homes in half. Emergency crews were called to a house in Erlanger early Thursday morning after a tree fell on a house. It happened in the 100 block of Division Street around 12:30 a.m.Officials on scene said one person was rescued after being trapped inside.

A month ago, four people were charged with trying to smuggle drugs into the Clermont County Jail. WLWT News 5 Today anchor Megan Mitchell got exclusive access inside the jail to see what they've put in place. The jail introduced its first K-9 officer last week after months of planning. Already this week, Deborah found what officers suspect to be methamphetamine on the old clothes of an inmate before booking — and no reports of drugs have been found inside the housing units.

Middletown High School band members are preparing to perform at the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., thanks to an invitation from Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, a school alumnus. "Hey remember you're going to hear 4 whistles and then it's left foot," a band instructor said. The students are preparing, pretending their hallways are steps of the U.S. Capitol. "And it's just one of those things. Repetitive, repetitive. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Playing," said tuba player Nathan Bennett.
