The Dearborn Inn has been given new life. The 94-year-old property, which was originally built by Henry Ford and designed by Albert Kahn across from what was once the Ford Airport, is again welcoming guests after undergoing a gleaming transformation. “It was a Marriott hotel and now it’s part of the Marriott Autograph Collection,” explains Marriott’s William McGowan, who attended the inn’s grand opening in late March, after the facility had been closed for two years during renovations.

In 1973, the award-winning winery’s founder, Larry Mawby, planted his first grapevines on Leelanau Peninsula property near Traverse City.

In 1848, just a few years after Frankenmuth was founded, the Hubinger brothers builtaflour mill on the banks ofthe Cass River, an energetic waterway. The mill was torn down in the 1950s and 30 years later, a replica was built in its spot. Once it closed, after several ownership changes and concepts, the facility sat empty for years, until the Zehnder family purchased it in 2022.
