    A fire broke out Thursday at a building in Yonkers, causing several road closures, according to the Yonkers Fire Department. Officials say the fire started in the roof area of the top floor of the building that has multiple apartment units inside. Due to fire department activity on Van Cortlandt Park Avenue, Elm Street was closed between Walnut and Prescott streets. Van Cortlandt Park Avenue was also closed between Spruce and Elm streets.

Roman says the director of transportation, the Haviland Middle School principal and himself are heading to the scene of the crash to assess the situation and ensure all students are safe.
