SPOKANE, Wash. – Despite freezing temperatures, hundreds of people gathered to pick out Christmas trees, supporting a local cause. The event marked the start of the Hutton Settlement's "12 Days of Christmas Tree Farm Fundraiser and Market." The fundraiser features about 1,100 pre-cut trees and additional U-cut trees, all benefiting the nonprofit's programs. Hutton Settlement provides a safe space and educational programs for children ages 6 to 18.

"Of course housing is important, we need that in our community," Larkin said, "we also need to balance that with the interest of our communities. Where are 3,000 homes going to go to get groceries? Where will they get water?

AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. – A new effort in Airway Heights aims to address the ongoing affordable housing crisis by providing much-needed shelter for local families. The city is developing more affordable housing units to support families like Michael Gardner and his son, who were the first to move into Highland Village. Gardner shared his relief upon moving into their new home. "Oh man the feeling was just overwhelming," Gardner said.
