LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The man accused of killing a puppy during an argument with his girlfriend appeared in court Wednesday to answer to the charge of animal torture. Police told WAVE that Demetrius Hebert got into an argument with his girlfriend and decided to leave. As he was getting his things together, he allegedly grabbed their pit-mix puppy Kash around the neck and started swinging it around violently while continuing to argue with her.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Metro Police officials confirm that the man accused of killing a dog during an argument with his girlfriend is now in custody. Police told WAVE that Demetrius Hebert got into an argument with his girlfriend and decided to leave. As he was getting his things together, he allegedly grabbed their pit-mix puppy Kash around the neck and started swinging it around violently while continuing to argue with her. Hebert then allegedly threw the puppy across the room.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Officials with the Kentucky Department for Public Health announced that two infants have died from pertussis in the past six months. According to a release from the state, neither of the infants nor their parents had received the pertussis immunization during pregnancy or infancy. These are the first pertussis-related deaths in Kentucky since 2018.
