Jerry Reynolds had been feeling under the weather. The flu, maybe COVID. He wasn’t quite sure. But when Donald Trump won, it was just what his body needed. “It was kinda like a shot of medicine in the arm,” he said. “Yeah, I’m elated to have Trump back in office in January. And I think he should have been in four years ago.”Republicans across Tennessee are expressing their relief and enthusiasm in the wake of Trump’s reelection.

Arian Mireles, 18, bounced out of the Hermitage Library with a smile on his face after voting for the first time. “I am really hoping I can make a change in America,” he said. The Lipscomb University student initially struggled to decide who would get his first vote. “I had to talk to my parents I had to talk to my coworkers,” he said. In the end, he decided on Kamala Harris.

A MARTÍNEZ, HOST:Millions of children this week are returning to class or are already back in the classroom for the new school year. In Nashville, students and teachers, for the first time, have been able to return to a school building where, almost a year and a half ago, a shooter used two assault-style rifles to unload 152 rounds. The gunfire killed three 9-year-old children and three adults, including the school's headmaster.
