The duo will create a ball sports arena for local teams and the wider community, providing a new public square and gateway to an exhibition park in České Budějovice, a city 120km south of Prague. Inspired by the Möbius strip – a continuous surface with only one side and one edge – the winning design aims to reflect ‘energy, unity, and perpetual motion’ and serve as a catalyst for positive transformation in České Budějovice.

The competition is part of Goodwoof – the annual celebration of dogs, held on the Goodwood Estate in West Sussex. The winning kennel, Snowdon Dog House, was designed by David Snowdon and Matthew Rice with Scott Simpson, while finalists included ADAM Architecture, Hall + Bednarczyk Architects, SOM and TV presenter Max McMurdo (see full shortlist below).

The team selected for the estimated £228,000 contract will draw up plans to upgrade two exhibition spaces located at the top of the central London museum which was refurbished by Foster + Partners 11 years ago. The project – planned to complete in 2027 – comes a year and a half after IWM London opened its new third floor Blavatnik Art, Film and Photography Galleries designed by Studio Miller and focussing on how artists, filmmakers, and photographers have shaped perceptions of conflict and war.

The practice defeated an undisclosed shortlist to win the commission, tendered by rail infrastructure operator HS1, to boost capacity at St Pancras International, the major central London terminus for international rail services to France, Belgium and the Netherlands. The Grade I-listed station, designed by William Henry Barlow in 1868, underwent an £800 million refurbishment and redevelopment by Arup and Chapman Taylor Architects in 2007 to make it suitable for Eurostar services.
