FARMINGDALE, NY — Farmingdale merchants are teaming up to create change through pocket change. The Farmingdale Village Business Improvement District and Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce teamed up to launch a Round-Up Campaign benefitting Long Island cancer charities. Merchants voted Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition as the inaugural cancer charity to benefit from the program, which starts on May 1.

LAKE GROVE, NY — Duchess Cookies has brought its overstuffed, oozing-with-sweetness confections to Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. Sofia Demetriou is the creator and president of Duchess Cookies. She has been baking up "creative and decadent flavors since she could pick up a spatula," according to the Duchess Cookies website. Demetriou's family has been in the bakery business for decades. "Duchess Cookies is the end result of generations of baking experience," the website reads.

HUNTINGTON STATION, NY — Terra, a store that sells speciality home accents and decor, furniture, women's apparel and accessories, and baby gifts and clothing, has opened in Huntington Station. Terra closed its doors in Cold Spring Harbor before moving to the Huntington Shopping Center. The new store opened at 350 Walt Whitman Road Unit 7, on March 15. The store's ribbon cutting is scheduled for 5 p.m. May 8, and the grand opening festivities are slated for May 8 through May 10.
