It's been a very long time since Mayo were as big as 22/1 to win Sam Maguire and six other teams sit ahead of them in the betting to win this year's title.

The Tochar Phadraig Fundraising Team is thrilled to announce this popular event will return again in 2025 on Saturday, May 3. This year the team will celebrate its 15 years if fundraising walks and they have announced that the chosen charities this year are GOAL and Cancer Fund for Children. The theme of this year’s walk is 'Remembering Our Friends Gone to Soon and Celebrating Our Milestones'. Robbie McCarthy, from Westport, set up the Tochar Phadraig Fundraising Walk Team back in 2008.

Mayo County Council are currently finalising the schedule for this year's Mayo Day, which will take place on Saturday, May 3. This is the eleventh year of Mayo Day since its inception back in 2015 and there are a whole host of events planned, locally, nationally and internationally. Details of the event which will bring the curtain down on Mayo Day 2005 were announced earlier this week.

The Irish Restaurant Awards Connaught Regional Final took place last night, celebrating the outstanding contributions of the food and hospitality industry across the province. The awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, April 8, at the Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa in Rosses Point, Sligo where county winners were announced, including all the winners from Mayo. With over 500 people in attendance, the event honoured the dedication and excellence of the hospitality sector throughout Connaught.

THE country was bathed in sunshine over the weekend as the GAA senior football championship got underway and Mayo got the job done in their Connacht quarter-final with a low-key three point victory over Sligo at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park in Castlebar. They racked up a big score of 2-20 but the concession of some 2-17 against Division Three opponents will mean Kevin McStay and his management team will have plenty to work on ahead of a semi-final clash with Leitrim on Saturday, April 19.
