Maureen Walsh, the mother of music manager Louis Walsh, was remembered at her funeral Mass as an “extraordinary” person who left an “incredible mark” on the lives of many. Figures from the world of music, including Westlife members Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne, and singers Dana and Michael English, joined the Walsh family in Co Mayo on Thursday to celebrate the 94-year-old’s life.

A HARDY Bucks actor died after taking cocaine and a hallucinogenic drug at a stag party in Mayo, an inquest heard. Alan ‘Ali’ Carter, from Kiltimagh in Co Mayo, played DJ Scorpio Lyons on the hit RTE comedy series Hardy Bucks. The actor died aged 37 following a stag party in Westport, Co Mayo, last August. At an inquest into his death on Thursday, a coroner warned that the “danger of combining alcohol and drugs cannot be overestimated”.
