Break and enters, tenant disputes and mental health crises stand out among the overall increase in demand for local police. South Simcoe Police Service’s new Deputy Chief Chris Landry presented the service’s monthly operational update as part of the police services board meeting at the South Division station in Bradford on May 28. The report showed the local police saw 2,807 calls for service in April, an increase of about 13 per cent from the 2,487 in the same month last year.

Based on a report from senior planner Mana Masoudi, committee of the whole recommended June 3 that council approve an update to the town’s zoning bylaw to meet provincial requirements to permit two accessory dwelling units (ADUs) on any residential lot in town serviced by water and sewers.

Bradford has a plan to answer residents’ concerns about traffic speeding along and cutting through certain residential areas. Based on a report from Paul Dubniak, the town’s transportation technologist, as well as a report and presentation from Heather Hector of Paradigm Transportation Solutions, the strategic initiative committee recommended May 27 that council direct staff to prepare submissions for the 2026 budget in order to implement the new traffic calming strategy.
