Breaking Bread Catering & Deli in Cary, known for its sandwiches, has partnered with a bakery from Wheeling to sell fresh loaves of bread and desserts. Breaking Bread owners Chris and Teri Plazak stared selling goods from Today’s Temptations about two months ago at their Cary location, at 638 Northwest Highway. Today’s Temptations is a Wheeling-based bakery that has been creating handcrafted baked goods and bread for more than 20 years.

Construction is moving along at Water’s Edge, Crystal Lake‘s largest development, with a goal to have a public park open this summer followed by retail spaces by the end of the year. Developer Heartland Real Estate Partners celebrated its progress on the 30-acre project, located at the former Crystal Court shopping center on Route 14 adjacent to Three Oaks Recreation Area, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday with the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.

Cary School District 26 Superintendent Brandon White will leave at the end of this school year to become superintendent for Harvard Community Unit School District 50, according to a District 26 news release. White has served District 26 for two years and had one more year left in his original three-year contract. He will start his new position in Harvard on July 1, according to a District 50 news release. District 50 serves five schools ranging from elementary to high school.

Two Woodstock men have been detained after allegedly pulling a gun out on a person off Woodstock Square. Salvador Herrera, 20, of the 600 block of McHenry Avenue in Woodstock, was charged with aggravated use of a weapon without a without a Firearm Owners Identification card, obstructing evidence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault on public property, reckless conduct, possession of a firearm and ammunition without a FOID card, according to court records.

Algonquin Police Department officers Mike Randall and Matthew Hunter rescued ducklings after they fell into a sewer grate on Sunday. Courtesy of the Algonquin Police Department Algonquin police officers saved nine baby ducklings unharmed after they stumbled into a sewer drain Sunday. That afternoon, officers Matthew Hunter and Mike Randall were called to the Fitness 19 parking lot at 189 S. Randall Road for a duck rescue. A caller who reported the mishap was parked near the sewer grate.
