PORTLAND, Oregon — Appearing in the Western Hockey League's Western Conference Finals for the first time in 6 years, the Chiefs didn't show any signs of a lack of experience as the series opened, as Spokane won the first two games of the best of 7 on home ice. The club was now halfway towards realizing a berth in the league finals, but had to show their mettle on the road as they headed to the Rose City of Portland for games 3 through 5 in the West's final round.
