    A state appellate court has ruled that a Hackettstown woman must face animal cruelty and animal fighting charges after she attended a cockfight on Hardscrabble Hill Road in Raritan Township two years ago. Dayana Abreau appealed a ruling by Hunterdon County Superior Court Judge Christopher Garrenger refusing to dismiss the charges against her. Abreau has yet to be indicted. Abreau was charged after township police responded to a noise complaint at the Hardscrabble Hill Road property on May 11, 2024.

    A New Brunswick man has been apprehended on charges he attempted to murder a North Brunswick police officer by ramming a police car in the parking lot of a Route 1 hotel in South Brunswick in May. After a month's long manhunt, Luis Duval-Jimenez, 31, was taken into custody June 18 by the U.S. Marshals Service in North Jersey in connection with the May 15 incident, according to South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka.
