PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - James Skillings is calling it a career. The beloved Moses Brown School teacher will be retiring at the end of the academic year. Skillings, affectionally called "Skills" by his students, has been teaching physical education and health at the private school for 43 years. "It's been a great run," Skillings said. "I picked the greatest career."For Skillings, history has repeated itself several times throughout his tenure.

JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - It's been 50 years since the Vietnam War, and Sergeant Major Daniel Evangelista will never forget what it was like. The East Providence native served in the U.S. Army's 7th Squadron, 17th Air Cavalry, which deployed to Vietnam in October 1967. Evangelista told 12 News he and his two brothers followed in their father's footsteps. "My dad was an Italian immigrant who [served] in World War II," he explained.

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) - Pauline Volpi has been a fixture at the Stop & Shop off Atwood Avenue in Cranston for the past 40 years. The beloved cashier is known for sporting thick-rimmed glasses on the job, and has a variety of colors to match her outfits. "Whatever I'm wearing, I have the color glasses to go with it," she explained. But those who regularly run into Volpi at the grocery store might not know that she doesn't even need them. "[The glasses] are just for show," she said.
