Perry's Drake Jacobsen has emerged as one of the state's best long jumpers in his first season of track and field. Jacobsen cleared 20 feet on his first practice jump and has a season-best jump of 22 feet, 5.5 inches. Jacobsen helped Perry's basketball team reach the Division II state championship game in March. One jump spoke volumes. It gave Drake Jacobsen a sense of his true potential as a track and field athlete.

Brown's conference title came on the heels of two sports hernia surgeries and another surgery for a broken bone in his hand.
