AKRON, Ohio — Police investigating a shooting at a street party in Akron over the weekend think at least one person opened fire on the crowd from a vehicle, killing one person and wounding 24 others. Investigators found more than 35 shell casings littered across the block where the shooting happened early Sunday while more than 100 people were celebrating someone's birthday, police Chief Brian Harding said.

Police said shots were reported just after midnight in the eastern part of the city, and local hospitals said people were arriving in their emergency departments with gunshot wounds. Police said Sunday morning that one person died and 24 others were wounded. Some victims were reported in critical condition while others had injuries that were not life-threatening.
