    Voting is now open for the latest category of The Oregonian’s Readers Choice Awards: the best beer brewed in Oregon. Hundreds of readers took the time to nominate their favorite beer and determine our 10 finalists. You can vote once a day here or at the bottom of this post until 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, April 15. Barley Brown’s Beer in Baker City offers a plethora of beers, including several IPAs, but our readers’ favorite is the Pallet Jack IPA.

    While the Trump administration is leaving no stone unturned with its sweeping list of new tariffs, you can count on the internet to leave no image from DreamWorks’ “Penguins of Madagascar” unturned as new memes are being created. What do penguins have to do with tariffs? Previously, not much. But the list of tariffs Trump unveiled Wednesday includes islands and territories with more penguins or polar bears than people.

    It’s time to open nominations for the next category of The Oregonian’s Readers Choice Awards: the best beer brewed in Oregon. Our state has long been known for its beer scene. We have 318 craft breweries that produce almost 900,000 barrels a year, according to the Brewers Association. Last year, we asked you to pick the best brewery or cidery in the Portland area and reader favorites included Brujos Brewing, TPK Brewing Co. and Ruse Brewing.

    Portland’s stripiest residents turned three years old, and they celebrated with a cake made from frozen goat milk yesterday afternoon. Amur tigers Dmitri and Luka were born March 19, 2022, at the Roosevelt Park Zoo in Minot, North Dakota. They moved to the Oregon Zoo in December 2023. “Three is a big milestone for Amur tigers — it’s when they’re considered full-grown adults. They aren’t cubs anymore!” said Jill Harmon, a keeper in the tiger area at the Oregon Zoo.
