A Eugene man was killed Thursday in a head-on collision with a semitruck outside of Florence. Oregon State Police responded to the scene on Highway 126 at about 2:23 a.m. Thursday. A preliminary investigation indicated that a white Freightliner semitruck headed westbound and a white Ford van traveling eastbound collided head-on near Milepost 6 for an "unknown reason," according to OSP. The driver of the van, 37-year-old Mathew Decker, of Eugene, was declared deceased at the scene.

Lane Community College Native American Student Association is holding its annual powwow Saturday. The event is free and open to the public, featuring dance, drums, food and more. NASA Pow Wow is the oldest and one of the largest events at LCC, dating back to 1968. A longstanding local tradition is bringing Indigenous cultures to the forefront this Saturday. The Native American Student Association Pow Wow will be held at Lane Community College this Saturday.
