There are three types of 287(g) agreements. The task force model is the most intensive and the only model to allow deputized officers to conduct immigration enforcement outside of a jail setting. It was previously phased out in 2012, and remained out of use until President Donald Trump took office in January. The jail enforcement model allows deputized officers to interrogate suspected noncitizens who are in custody, issue immigration detainers and serve administrative warrants.

Nebraska recipients of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, will be banned from buying soda, soft drinks and energy drinks starting next year under a pilot program announced Monday by Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen and U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. The pilot program, which will begin in January and last for two years, is the first of its kind in the country, according to Pillen and Rollins.

When 71% of Nebraska voters approved the legalization of medical marijuana in November, it was the largest margin of victory for a medical cannabis ballot initiative in any of the 19 states that have legalized it through a voter-initiated measure. But five months after Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen , the future of medical marijuana in the state remains unclear. Without anywhere to buy medical cannabis legally, it remains inaccessible in Nebraska.
