10 Trinity School students create West Texas Food Bank Junior Board

Through a commitment to their community, 10 students at Trinity School in Midland created a junior board for the West Texas Food Bank. The group’s goal is to advocate, fundraise and raise awareness for the West Texas Food Bank. Events such as the upcoming Valentine’s Day Dance for Permian Basin high school students allow the junior board to explore new ways for young Midland-Odessa folks to impact their community all while maintaining the Food Bank’s mission.

Hosted by Corrales’ good friend Lauren Disney, the gathering — which was planned to happen in the parking lot — took place in a room inside the church’s fellowship hall due to inclement weather.
Intruder died due to self-defense in Midland, Texas on Feb. 3, 2024

Early Saturday morning, a man died in north Midland as a result of self-defense. According to the Midland Police Department, 37-year-old George Samuel Butler entered a home at the 1400 block of Daventry Place “by force with a rifle.” MPD reported that the homeowner then “placed the suspect in a choke hold in an apparent case of self-defense.” MPD responded to the scene at approximately 4:09 a.m. about a disturbance with weapons. Once arriving, MPD located Butler on scene, deceased.
