Orlando has always been synonymous with family fun, and yes, the Mouse, but while you were sleeping, the food scene has been heating up. It's now considered one of the country's top foodie cities, and breakout star William Shen is certainly one of the reasons why. He's the chef/owner of UniGirl, just awarded a Bib Gourmand at the Florida MICHELIN Guide Ceremony on April 17th, as well as Sorekara, which was awarded Two MICHELIN Stars.

Ask anyone where to go in Orlando and undoubtedly Otto's High Dive, a MICHELIN Bib Gourmand, will lead that list. From locals to award-winning chefs, it's a perennial favorite, and the man behind the magic is Justin Levaughn. Levaughn, who won the MICHELIN Guide Award for Exceptional Cocktails at the 2024 Florida MICHELIN Guide Ceremony, worked his way up from dishwasher and busser to his current role at Otto's High Dive where he oversees one of the buzziest spots in town.

Shamim Popal and her family were forced to flee their native Afghanistan when the Soviet Union invaded in the 1980s. They arrived in the United States with very little, and together with her husband, Popal has created a thriving restaurant group in Washington, D.C., with Lutèce, Pascual, and MICHELIN Guide Bib Gourmand Lapis. Despite running these popular restaurants, when Popal arrived in the U.S., she didn’t even know how to cook rice.
