NISSWA — Pequot Lakes High School junior Josie Taylor already plans to attend a four-year college to major in dietetics and nutrition science. As Miss Nisswa 2025, she won a $3,000 scholarship to help with that endeavor. Taylor won the crown Saturday, April 12, at the 53rd annual scholarship competition at Nisswa Elementary School. "I am so excited. I was very surprised to hear my name being called, but I am so pleased," Taylor said after the competition.

NISSWA — Josie Taylor, a Pequot Lakes High School junior, claimed the Miss Nisswa title Saturday, April 12, at the 53rd annual scholarship competition at Nisswa Elementary School. First Princess is Ericah Folden, a Brainerd High School senior. Folden also won the essay and personal interview categories. Second Princess is Nikki Crocker, a Pequot Lakes High School junior. Candidates elected Autumn Schiller, a Brainerd High School senior, as Miss Congeniality.

PEQUOT LAKES — The Central Lakes Rotary Club raises funds to donate to a lot to area organizations and causes, and leaders say they could do more with more members. We are like super volunteers. Barbara Jean (Peterson) Moilanen, 82, of Brainerd, MN, faced her cancer battle with incredible strength and grace before passing on April 9th, surrounded by family. Born on October 18, 1942, to Cleon and Sadie Peterson.  Barb is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Roger Moilanen; her children, Denise (David) Nord, Ann (Kevin) Koep and Alicia (Chris) Brownell; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
