Eugene “Curley” Franzwa, age 91, of Brainerd, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2025, at St. Cloud Hospital, surrounded by family. Curley was born November 22, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota. From the age of five, he spent every summer working on his Uncle Johnny's farm. That time helped shape his strong work ethic and a willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need. After High school he was drafted into the Army and served in the Korean war.

Wiljo "Willie" Tuomi II, age 72, of Brainerd, passed away on June 3, 2025, leaving behind a trail of laughter, grease-stained blue jeans, fish tales, and the deep love of everyone lucky enough to know him. Born December 11, 1952, Willie was the oldest son of Wiljo and Phyllis Tuomi. He graduated from Brainerd High School in 1970. After high school, he went straight to work with his dad at Tuomi Construction, where he eventually took over the family business.

In fact, his goal is to make it to year 60 at the grocery store that opened in Nisswa in 1964-65. "Next June!" said Hagerty, who is now 82 and started working in the store's meat department in June 1966.
