She can't get out in the yard and garden like she used to, but other than that, "I'm doing pretty well for my age." For Amy Helke of Pomeroy, that age happens to be 100. Her advice to an enjoyable life is: "Don't worry about everything. Do the best you can.

-EW photo by Naomi Scoggin countPOMEROY-The Pomeroy High School band class has a new drum set thanks to the organization efforts of Cody Jones and Cory Burke, and the generosity of the community. Jones and Burke created a Go Fund Me account and raised more than enough money in 24 hours to purchase a $2,500, pirate-orange drum set. Jones presented PHS band teacher Joshua Murray with a check for $806, the difference between the amount raised and the price of the drums.

Ten Years AgoApril 1, 2015Guided by Missoula Children's Theatre directors Peter Kane and Sara Kane, Pomeroy School District students gave a rousing performance of "The Jungle Book" last week Friday in the elementary gym. The play is filled with colorful jungle characters, including an orphaned child, a wise bear, an aggressive tiger, and an understanding wolf pack.

POMEROY-The Garfield County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) approved a request for funding from Pomeroy Community Connection, discussed road repair, and approved surplus of several items at their meeting on Mar. 24. The BOCC approved $40,000 of Local Assistance and Tribal Consistency Funds (LATCF) to go to Pomeroy Community Connection. The funds were earmarked at a prior meeting for use towards a daycare.

The Chamber recognized Bob Koller as 2015 Citizen of the Year, Harold and Helen Shepherd Foundation with the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award, and Jim's Fertilizer as 2015 Business of the Year. Twenty-Five Years AgoMarch 29, 2000Erika Bowles was named Pomeroy's Junior Miss for 2000-01 at Saturday's program.
