Simpsonville families are picking up the pieces after a large fire destroyed multiple homes. Robert Choice recalls the moments he helped his family escape from their home during a fire. A bill in the South Carolina Statehouse would make it illegal to use a phone while driving. Master Trooper Michael Ridgeway with the South Carolina Highway Patrol says looking at a phone while driving creates three levels of distraction. "I've [worked] several distracted driving collisions where somebody was distracted on a cellphone and ended up causing a fatality, typically, a total stranger that was affected in this," he said. "It takes your eyes off the road. It distracts you manually.
