A Greenville area nonprofit lost thousands of dollars from an online scam. Randy Owens is the co-owner of Dog Squad, a Greenville-based dog rescue. He says the business often receives donations via money-sharing apps. Recently, he says scammers would create fake accounts of Dog Squad. "When they see that logo, they just assume that was us. And we there were 3 or 4 accounts using our logo, impersonating Dog Squad.

Forest Service provides updates for residents near NC fires

While three large fires continue to burn across western North Carolina, county and state leaders provided an update to those living near the fires. According to the NC Forest Service, the Black Cove and Deep Woods fires are at 0% containment and burning nearly 6,000 acres. The Fish Hook fire is now at 70% containment. Jeremy with the NC Forest Service says they're using a variety of methods to slow the fires' progression.
