BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — Julie Schirado from Furry Friends Rockin’ Rescue introduced everyone to her new puppy pal, Otto. Otto was one of the few puppies who survived his birth during that bitterly cold spell this winter. He was born on a porch in Mandan when the high temperature struggled to get above negative 30. And now he’s growing as every puppy does — chewing on anything her can get his mouth on… including one of our microphones.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KXNET) — For the second time in as many years, House republicans brought the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility, or SAVE, Act to the floor. In a statement, Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, one of the bill’s sponsors, said it “serves as a critical first step to ensure that we maintain election integrity throughout our country.” North Dakota’s lone representative, Julie Fedorchak, joined her party in voting in favor of the bill.

WATFORD CITY, N.D. (KXNET) — One man is dead following an officer-involved shooting late Monday evening near Watford City. According to a post on the McKenzie County Sheriff’s Facebook page, deputies responded to a domestic call at a residence south of the city around 7:30 p.m.During the incident, a male suspect was shot by one of the deputies. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene and took the man to the McKenzie County Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

BISMARCK, N.D. (KXNET) — Tracy Kershaw and Alyssa Bruce from Furry Friends Rockin’ Rescue came by to introduce their newest canine companions, Hardy and Johnny. Johnny and Hardy were part of a group of 20 abandoned puppies that the Rescue was called in to retrieve from west of Mandan. Over the course of several days, and many hours of volunteer work, most of the puppies were eventually recovered and given the care they deserved.
