As Hubbard’s third baseman, Songer has the team’s highest batting average (.462) through the first five games of the season, and she continued her scorching start to her high school career on Tuesday with a pair of doubles and two RBIs to help lift the Eagles to a 9-7 victory over Northeast-8 Conference rival Poland.

YOUNGSTOWN — Ursuline took its licks early and often during the first half of the baseball season last year. The Fighting Irish started 1-4 and had a pair of four-game losing streaks during the regular season. But come playoff time, Ursuline hit its stride. The Irish won five straight games to end the season, winning their second district title in three years, before losing to eventual state champion West Branch.

CANFIELD — Last season’s “revenge tour” ultimately proved to be a successful venture for the Canfield softball team. After losing to Tallmadge in the state championship game in 2023, the Cardinals ran it back in 2024. Despite graduating eight seniors, Canfield marched through the regular season and playoffs to capture the Division II state title, its second in program history.
