    WILLIAMSPORT — The NP-Liberty Lady Mounties (14-5) were stunned in the second round of the District 4 Class AAA Playoffs as they fell to the third-seeded Hughesville Lady Spartans (15-4) by a final count of 1-0 in a defensive battle. The second-seeded Lady Mounties came into the game with two regular season wins over Hughesville by scores of 18-0 and 9-3 — but the weather as well as an incredible defensive effort for the Lady Spartans helped them upset the second-seeded Liberty squad.

    WILLIAMSPORT — The Cowanesque Valley Indians (15-4) took home their first-ever District 4 Class A Title here on Monday, May 26 as they turned in an incredible all-around performance to capture a 5-2 victory over the St. John Neumann Golden Knights (12-5) and punched their ticket to the State Tournament. It was a full display of the CV squad during the win, with their pitching staff allowing just two runs on five hits while their bats would turn around and use six hits to score five runs.

    Area athletes claimed four total medals during the PIAA State Championships this past weekend at Shippensburg University with the Wellsboro duo of Lauren Kosek and Piper Hoprich leading the way. At the same time, Williamson’s Aiden O’Neil also took home hardware. Wellsboro sophomores Kosek and Hoprich led the way at States — with Hoprich winning one silver and one bronze medal in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes respectively while Kosek took home third place in the 3200-meter.

    The Northern PA Running Series celebrated their 10th year of raising money and awareness for the NICU at Arnot Ogden Medical Center with their Giving Back 5K this past Saturday, May 24. The event was sponsored by Blossburg Ambulance, the town of Arnot and other family and friends who volunteered to donate their time. They would raise a total of $280 that was donated to Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
