    A five-story building in the heart of downtown Binghamton is being renovated to make it more attractive as a student housing complex. The street level of the location at 23 Henry Street had been best known as the home of the Burger Mondays restaurant for more than a decade. That business closed its doors last February. The lights were on but the tables were gone at the closed Burger Mondays restaurant on February 25, 2025.

    Two people face felony weapon and drug possession charges after police found a loaded gun, cocaine and methamphetamine in a Binghamton residence. Authorities said the arrests followed a month-long investigation into the sale of illegal drugs in Broome County. According to a news release from the Binghamton police department detective bureau, a search warrant was executed Tuesday at 1 Yager Street on the city's North Side. Items confiscated after police executed a search warrant at 1 Yager Street.

    Another store that had been a longtime fixture in the Binghamton Plaza has shut down. Melissa Winslow, the owner of MelRose Pet Palace, said she closed the shop on Binghamton's North Side last Friday.     An abandoned restaurant in Vestal may become the site for Broome County's first Chick-fil-A restaurant. Representatives of the Georgia-based chain spoke at a Vestal town planning board meeting Tuesday evening, according to News 34. The new Chick-fil-A would be located in the Town Square Mall on the Vestal Parkway East. The spot  had been occupied by an Uno Pizzeria and Grill for more than two decades. It most recently was home to a Storming Crab restaurant.
