Nancy Marks, the former campaign treasurer for ex-Long Island Rep. George Santos, was sentenced Wednesday to three years of probation for her role in conspiring with Santos to file fraudulent campaign finance reports — a stunning defeat for federal prosecutors who had wanted her to go to prison. Marks, a Shirley resident who was a mainstay in local Republican political campaigns for more than a decade before she worked for Santos, was also ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $178,402.97.

Nearly two months have passedsince JuanJuan Zwang and her husbandPeishuan Fan were last seen at their Old Brookville mansion. They had a "normal dinner" with their sons, a 12-year-old and a 20-year-old university student, and some of the younger child’s friends on March 30, said John Carman, a Garden City-based attorney representing the older child, Yiwei Fan. The next morning, the two brothers and the older brother’s girlfriend drove to the Catskills for an overnight stay.

Suffolk County has agreed to an $18 million settlement with inmates at the county's jails over allegations of unsanitary living conditions, including vermin infestation at its facilities in Riverhead and Yaphank dating back more than a decade, court papers show. The class-action lawsuit's settlement grants monetary payments to individuals incarcerated at the jails from April 5, 2009, to a date that has not yet been agreed upon, the settlement said.
