THE Ennistymon North West Clare Agricultural Show due to take place this June Bank Holiday Sunday has been postponed. Committee members made the decision to defer the 49th staging of the Show due to the tragic bereavement of Éanna Rouine with his funeral mass taking place in Lahinch on Sunday. Efforts are ongoing to determine a refixed date for the show.

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched by Gardaí with an appeal for witnesses following a car hijacking in Parteen. At approximately 18:15 on Friday evening, the theft of a car took place at a residential premises in Firhill, Parteen. A woman in her seventies suffered non-life threatening injuries during the car hijacking. She was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.

CO CLARE is to remain without an emergency department with HIQA not proposing to build a model three hospital in the county. HIQA’s review into emergency services in the Mid-West region will not recommend the construction of a model three hospital in Co Clare while it is feared no new hospital will even be built in the region.

Untimely because the Lahinch man was only entering his prime at twenty years of age and it makes his loss all the more difficult to absorb for his loving family and wide circle of friends.
