Group 1 sees all 4 teams on 2 points as Cavan will face Tyrone in Brewster Park Enniskillen at 4pm with Donegal taking on Mayo at the same time in King and Moffatt Dr. Hyde Park.

Roscommon fell to an opening day defeat to Laois in the TG4 All-Ireland intermediate championship. Laois scoring a 3-11 to 2-7 win over Roscommon in Portlaoise. A goal just before half-time from Mo Nerney, after Emily Lacey landed four points, helped Laois to lead by 1-8 to 1-5 at half-time. Caoimhe Lennon getting the first of her two goals for Roscommon. Laois, winners of the TG4 All-Ireland IFC title three years ago, opened up a seven-points lead when Nerney got her second goal from a penalty.

Laois won this competition in 2022. After suffering relegation last year, the O’Moore County will be anxious to bounce back to the senior grade at the first attempt. Laois lost to Kildare in a nerve-jangling senior championship relegation play-off, now the challenge is to prove that they can be among the contenders at Intermediate level. Roscommon are another side that can produce good football on any given day – and the Connacht side are potential dark horses in this competition.

The Ireland Women’s National Team make their first trip to Turkey for their 2025 UEFA Nations League. A 1-0 win over Turkey in February kick started the campaign for Ireland who now face the same opponent before hosting Slovenia next Tuesday (June 3rd) in Páirc Uí Chaoimh. Ireland are 32 places ahead of Turkey (58) in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

A Longford primary school recently became the first school in the county to achieve all ten Green-Schools flags. Scoil Bhríde Glen National School in Edgeworthstown were awarded the Global Citizenship Food and Biodiversity flag at an awards ceremony held in Athlone last week. The school started the programme in 2003 and now have earned all ten Green-Schools flags. Principal Eilish Keogh paid tribute to the work done by past staff and students in achieving this historic milestone:
