Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) is urging anglers to report any sightings of Pacific pink salmon in Irish rivers this summer. The fish appeared in unprecedented numbers in multiple river systems in Ireland’s west, northwest, and southwest in previous years. The salmon species predominantly has a two-year lifecycle, and may reappear in rivers this year, and every second, so called ‘odd’, year thereafter.

The Mayor of the West Clare Municipal District, has formally written to eir expressing serious concern over a major fibre broadband outage affecting more than 4,400 customers across West Clare. The disruption, which began on the afternoon of 5 June, has impacted multiple communities including Cooraclare, Doonaha, Doonbeg, Kilkee, Kilmihil, Kilrush, Knock, Labasheeda, and Rahey Cross.

Uisce Éireann’s Darragh Connelly has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible. “We understand the inconvenience of an unplanned outage and we thank customers for their support while our works continue.”Repairs are expected to be completed later on this evening.

Clare Youth Service will once again be providing its range of Exam Supports including Exam Cafés across the county to offer students a safe and stress-free environment during the hectic exam period. This year, venues include Ennis, Shannon, Kilrush, Lisdoonvarna, Sixmilebridge and Newmarket-on-Fergus, on the Exam Café roster whilst additional supports such as grant applications, CV writing and PLC options can be accessed by appointment through the CYS Youth Information Service.
