Western Australia's oldest surviving World War II army prisoner of war, Arthur Leggett, has died in Perth aged 106. Mr Leggett fought against the Italian army in Libya in the battles of Bardia and Tobruk. He was captured by Germans during the battle of Crete in 1941, when he was 22 years old, and spent four years in a prisoner of war camp. Mr Leggett was made to work in coal mines in Poland and endured a forced march across the Czech Alps while starving in the midst of European winter. Loading...

Western Australia's measles outbreak is continuing to worsen, with six cases now confirmed. These include a returned overseas traveller and three prisoners, two from Hakea Prison in Perth and one from Bunbury Regional Prison, as well as two healthcare workers at Bunbury Hospital.
