Sheriff's Department K9 injured in Mountain City shooting

A Johnson County, Tennessee sheriff's department K9 is recovering after an officer-involved shooting in Mountain City. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, it happened in the 300 block of Cross Mountain Road in Mountain City. Agents are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting. Sheriff Clifton Worley told News 5 one of his department's K9s was injured in the shooting. No other details about the incident or condition of those involved have been released.
Gov. Lee calls special session for Helene relief, school choice, & immigration

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced Wednesday that he will call for the Tennessee General Assembly to convene a special session on Monday, January 27. Overnight snow, freezing temps snarl traffic

An overnight snowfall is impacting traffic across the region. Temperatures across the region Tuesday morning are in the 20s. Emergency officials say numerous crashes have been reported on Interstates 81 and 26 in Washington and Sullivan Counties in Tennessee. The biggest concern is around bridges where black ice is possible. Snow fall totals vary greatly with different areas.
Dozens evacuated after overnight fire in Hawkins County

Dozens of people were evacuated from their homes overnight in Hawkins County, Tennessee. The emergency management director says a fire broke out around midnight at the old Pressmans Home trade center building. Officials say a building connected to the fire contains 400 propane tanks, 1,000 barrels of oil, ammunition, and lacquer. There are also around 100 tires on site. Officials were worried the fire would spread to that building. Those living within a one-mile radius were told to evacuate.

Crews respond to fire at former Virginia Intermont library in Bristol

BRISTOL, Va. (WCYB) — UPDATE: Crews responded to a fire at the former Virginia Intermont College library at around 3:21 a.m. Wednesday. The Bristol, Virginia Fire Department responded to the blaze and requested assistance from the Bristol, Tennessee Fire Department. The building was still full of books and other combustibles from the former college, causing a heavy fire load. The fire quickly burned through the basement to the first floor and into the second floor.
