Police in Elgin are appealing for information to trace Rhys Sutherland (15). Rhys was reported missing from his home address in Elgin since about 7.30pm on Friday, May 9. Rhys is described as 6 feet tall, slim build with brown, short hair. When last seen, he was wearing a grey tracksuit and a black 'Red Hot Chilli Pipers' baseball cap.

Pictures captured show the damage a fire at Tomnahurich Cemetery Hill caused last night. Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances from the city attended the scene after the alarm was raised at 9.52 pm last night. The crews, using hose reel jets, quickly brought the worst of the flames under control, with the stop message to headquarters relayed at 11.06 pm – an hour and a quarter after the blaze was first reported.

A community walk is set to take place in Inverness for Mental Health Awareness week. Organised by NHS Highland Community Mental Health Services with HUG Action for Mental Health, Centred, Spirit Advocacy, and other third sector partners, will the walk will place on Thursday, May 15. The walk, titled ‘Bridge of Hope: One Bridge, One Breath, One Shared Journey’, will begin at 4pm at The Gathering Place, Bught Road.

Taste of Nairn is continuing into its second day and there is plenty to get your teeth stuck into, according to the organisers. The food and drink festival runs over three days, incorporating two markets, demonstrations, tastings, and a number of individual events. An Inverness teenager carried out two assaults on different people a few days later. Cameron Young (19) repeatedly punched a man on the head, struck him on the body with a traffic cone and grabbed him by the body on July 20 last year in Nairn High Street. Young also repeatedly pushed the same victim against a window, dragged him to the ground and continued to punch him on the head while he was lying down.

A woman set fire to her neighbours’ fence after a long-running dispute. Carrie-Ann Clark (45) started the blaze in the garden of Orchid Place, Carrbridge, before shouting at her neighbours. Fiscal depute Anna Boyle told Sheriff Robert Frazer at Inverness Sheriff Court: “There had been a long-standing dispute with the neighbours and they were in a semi-detached property. “The neighbours had erected a wooden fence between the rear gardens.

A drunk man spat at a nurse at Strathspey and Badenoch Community Hospital before uttering racial remarks to police. Andrew Anderson (40) had gone in for an appointment on March 24 when he appeared intoxicated. When a nurse told him that he was early and that he was too intoxicated, he became irate. Inverness hospitality firm wins accolade at national awards ceremony

An Inverness business has won the best hospitality employer of the year award at a national ceremony. CRU Hospitality, which runs the venues including The White House and Scotch & Rye, picked up the accolade at the Scottish Entertainment and Hospitality Awards. The annual awards attract over 5000 businesses from across Scotland, all vying for recognition as the best in their field. Alongside the best hospitality employer award, some of CRU Hospitality’s venues were also recognised.
