    ROSS County have confirmed that defender Ryan Leak has left the club following the expiry of his contract. The 27-year-old defender has left the Dingwall outfit following their relegation from the Scottish Premiership last week. The Welsh defender signed for Ross County in August 2023, after previously playing for Salford City in England. His departure comes after Scott Allardice and James Brown also decided to leave the club following their expiry of their contracts.

    Police caught a man driving after having taken cocaine twice within three months last year, Inverness Sheriff Court was told. Gary Simon, of Seaforth Place, Maryburgh, was first stopped in his home street on May 28 with 396mcg in his system.     A large yacht with four people aboard has been rescued by the Kyle RNLI crew. The lifeboat was scrambled at 2.30pm on Saturday to reports that the 44ft vessel had experienced engine trouble two miles to the north of the Skye Bridge. The lifeboat launched and was on scene within a couple of minutes, after which the station engineer/mechanic, Ewen, went aboard and was able to sort a temporary fix to the engine.

    Crofters are asking government to take action to “control predation” by sea eagles after claims that attacks on lambs have reached unprecedented levels. The Scottish Crofting Federation says that weather and predation are the two biggest threats to newborn lambs, with white-tailed eagles being a growing problem. They say that reports suggests the reintroduced birds are ranging further and have been spotted in new parts of Scotland, as well as in larger numbers.

    MAGNUS Henry answered a late call up from a rugby team from New Zealand to play at one of the most famous rugby sevens competitions in the world. The Highland Rugby Club winger agreed to play for Te Awamutu at the Melrose Sevens. Henry (27) who is a physical education teacher at Glenurquhart High School in Drumnadrochit, helped Te Awamatu reach the quarter finals of the competition. He was recommended by one of his Highland RFC teammates to answer the SOS from the New Zealand club.
