The body of a 25-year-old man has been recovered from Woodlawn Lake, authorities say. The San Antonio Police Department and the San Antonio Fire Department responded to a "water rescue incident" at Woodlawn Lake Park late Monday afternoon, according to police response records. The man was found in the lake near a tunnel, SAFD Battalion chief Mark Treviño told reporters at the scene on Monday evening.

In early January, they learned the near West Side complex was deemed to be back in compliance with state jail standards after falling out in October and November last year. Yet, they're still struggling with a shortage of jailers, frequent overcrowding and an alarming number of suicides and health crises resulting in death. The 36-year-old facility is in desperate need of repairs and upgrades.

One person was killed in a crash Wednesday afternoon near the Medical Center that shut down Interstate 10. Most of the top of the sedan appeared to be crushed after the impact. According to the Texas Department of Transportation website, the crash was reported before 1:30 p.m. on I-10 at Medical Drive. All lanes had been reopened before 5 p.m.San Antonio police said the highway will be shut down for the next few hours. Drivers are asked to find an alternate route.

At around 3 a.m. today, Allen Padilla and his family returned to far South Bexar County to see if their houses had survived the fast-moving brush fire that leveled their neighbor's home. Both Padilla and his brother Jesus Padilla's houses on Forest Drive survived. Before heading to bed, the family took a hose and doused small tree fires that still dotted the property. "We were just happy about our houses," Allen Padilla said.

San Antonio Police Department officers are on the scene of a barricaded man after a report of a shooting on the Southeast Side. According to the city's active police call website, a shooting was reported at about 2:45 p.m. on Monday at the Ridge at Southcross, an apartment complex in the 4700 block of Stringfellow Drive.
