San Anrtonio's Barshop Jewish Community Center abruptly canceled programs and services Wednesday morning, including a summer camp for children, after police alerted staff members to a threat of violence against the facility. Employees of J-Camp, a summer program at the center, said in an email to parents that the FBI and the San Antonio Police Department are investigating.

A 78-year-old woman was pronounced dead moments after she was pulled from a burning home on San Antonio's Northwest Side early Thursday morning. The fire was reported about 3:30 a.m. at a home in the 200 block of Southill, according to firefighters on scene. Police arrived first and were told by neighbors that an elderly woman was trapped inside. Officers kicked in the door but were driven back by heavy smoke. Firefighters arrived shortly after and were able to pull the woman from the home.

A community vigil will be held to honor the 13 lives lost in the devastating floods in San Antonio last week. It is scheduled at 8 p.m. on Wednesday at San Antonio Aware and Prepared, located at 5819 Northwest Loop 410. Pamela Espurvoa Allen, CEO of Eagles Flight Advocacy & Outreach, a community organization that supports families with special needs through resources and referrals, will host the vigil. She encourages people to bring photos, candles, flowers or other items of remembrance.

Eight people are dead and at least six are missing after record rainfall in San Antonio, San Antonio Fire Department officials said on Friday. The search continues for the missing at Northeast Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel Road and across the city on the West Side, at U.S. 90 and Callaghan Road, said Joe Arrington, a SAFD spokesperson.
