Rodrick Morris, 48, is serving 35 years in prison after being convicted of38 counts of second-degree forgery and theft of property following a jury trial in 2023.

    A high-speed chase in Grant County Wednesday morning resulted in damage to several police vehicles from both the Sheridan Police Department and Grant County Sheriff’s Department. According to a press release, State Police Cpl. Todd Williams attempted a traffic stop in the Ico Community when a vehicle driven by Carlos Smith, 31, of Lamar refused to stop. Resulting in a high-speed chase with speeds reachin 90 miles per hour.

    The Arkansas Court of Appeals has denied the request of an attorney for a Pine Bluff man convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm to withdraw from the case. According to the court opinion, Vincent Peal, 52, was found guilty following a jury trial and sentenced to five years in prison. The attorney filed a motion to be relieved of their duties and included a notation that there were no issues of merit for an appeal of the conviction.

    LITTLE ROCK — Researchers at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) are partnering with the University of Pittsburgh to study whether calcium, vasopressin, or both, will help severely injured patients survive life-threatening blood loss early in treatment. The CAlcium and VAsopressin following Injury Early Resuscitation (CAVALIER) trial will include approximately 1,050 people, ages 18 to 90.
