Dublin is bracing itself for a massive invasion of flying ants this summer, with the season hitting its peak as these little creatures take to the skies in search of love. The capital has already seen thousands of these winged insects, known as 'flying ants', swarming around homes and businesses as part of their mating ritual, often referred to as "Flying Ant Day". These critters typically invade indoor spaces on the hunt for grub, and are generally harmless.

Gardai have launched an investigation after reports of shots being fired in Finglas last night. The incident is reported to have happened in the Mellowes Avenue area of Finglas shortly before 10pm on Friday. No injuries were reported and the scene is currently being preserved for technical examination as investigations are ongoing.
